More similar to Middle High German than to modern German, this dialect has different tints and shades. Upper-class Bernese (Bernburger) originates from the aristocracy and has more French influence. This translation is made in the common form of the dialect. With the revival of interest in ethnic roots, the Bernese dialect has become an instrument for the expression of art poetry, songs etc.
