Arabic
is the official language in 21 countries. Classical Arabic is the sacred
language of Islam. There are many variations of colloquial Arabic:
Algerian, Moroccan, Egyptian, Syrian, Iraquian and several in Arabia and
the Sahara, not all mutually comprehensible. Written Arabic, however, is
universal, so that while people from different countries may not be able
to understand each others speech, they will be able to communicate in
writing.
